Check On Each Other

Do you ever feel alone? Do you feel like maybe no one cares or understands the trauma and stresses that come with a career in public safety?

In this week’s moment of clarity, Charlie talks to us about the often ignored side of wellness, mental and emotional wellness. He shares with us the importance of checking on and being there for each other. “You don’t have to have a degree or be a therapist,” says Charlie, “Just say ‘are you okay? I care about you.'”

For many of us we think we always need to be “okay” and strong, but remember that it’s okay to not be okay. We need to look out for each other, help each other and make sure that we recognize when those we care about might be going down a dark path.

Suicide in public safety is a very real problem that’s not discussed enough. Every 22 hours someone is taking his or her life. We need to bring it out of the shadows and remove the stigma so we can save more of our brothers and sisters. Join us by sharing this video and spreading the message that we are here for you.
