Kristin Miller began her career with the La Palma Police Department. She was hired for the records desk, however, being at a smaller agency allowed her to grasp knowledge of the real work performed by civilians throughout the agency.
In 2006, Kristin lateraled to the Tustin Police Department where she held the roles of Records Lead, Records Supervisor and Dispatch Supervisor. Upon her promotion to Police Manager in 2011, Kristin was overseeing Property, CSI, Front Desk, Records and Dispatch. She was also appointed the departments CALEA Accreditation Manager.
In 2016, Kristin was hired by the Huntington Beach Police Department as the agency’s first Civilian Commander. Her vast command included Dispatch, Records, Property, Front Desk, HR, Budget, Jail and IT.
Most recently, Kristin was appointed Executive Director of the South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority in Los Angeles County. The Authority handles police dispatch for the cities of Culver City, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Additionally, the authority provides fire dispatch for Culver City, El Segundo and Manhattan Beach.
Kristin is a lifetime member of the California Police Accreditation Coalition. She has provided insight and recommendations for numerous CALEA agencies in California, Washington, Nevada and Georgia through mock assessments. Kristin is the Chair for the Program Development Committee of Cal-Chiefs Accreditation program. She is also a coach and mentor for conducts assessments for agencies looking to improve their civilian units.
